Parish Nursing Ministry
Parish Nursing is all about supporting people and communities towards whole person healthcare. Whole person healthcare is about the person’s overall well-being, which includes spiritual, physical, mental and social aspects of health. All Parish Nurses are registered nurses and are appointed or employed through a local church. Most of them continue to work for the NHS and they value links with all NHS and other relevant professionals. Parish Nursing Ministries UK promotes the concept of whole person health care and helps churches and nurses to develop it - their long term goal is a Parish Nurse for every Parish.
What can the All Hallows Parish Nurse Offer?
- Support in times of illness and stress
- Time to talk about health issues with a nursing professional
- Health advice and information about other agencies
- Prayer support and the opportunity to discuss spiritual needs
- Help with making sense of medical information such as medication and diagnoses
- Lead discussions on health issues
Our Parish Nurse is Dorrie Bilson. If you would like to talk to Dorrie or arrange for her to visit, please contact her on: 07795 841524 or via email - email@example.com She is mainly available on a Wednesday but other times can be arranged.
Dorrie became a registered nurse 20 years ago, works in Andover as a practice nurse two days a week, and in a voluntary capacity as a parish nurse on one day each week. She has lived in Whitchurch for10 years and is a member of All Hallows. Dorrie is able to take time to share her skills and experience within the community. As a colleague commented “time is the biggest gift we can give, which complements the services the NHS provides".
