COMING UP AND OTHER NOTICES

The calendar below gives details of forthcoming events.

The vacancy - The Church Wardens thank us for our prayers for the interview process. In particular we had been praying that everyone would be of the same mind about God's will for our church regarding the candidate who should be offered the job. There had been a clear consensus and that candidate has now accepted the post. The diocese have asked us not to publish the details yet, as it’s still subject to various clearances but do talk to a warden for more details.

Coffee after the service - during Advent we will donate any money given for refreshments after the 10am service to Save the Children Fund.

Christmas cards with details of Christmas services in local churches are ready to distribute to homes in Whitchurch - please note that there is a change to the time of the service at the Methodist church on Christmas Day. This will now start at 9.30; it would be really good if cards could be amended by hand to reflect this before delivery.

Knitted Christmas Angels for Churches Together in Whitchurch - Thank you to everyone who has already knitted angels. We will be adding the labels to the Angels on Saturday 23ed December at the Methodist Church coffee morning. All Are welcome to come and help. The Angels will be distributed that afternoon.

Rotations - the charity shop has made £1725.54 profit. Kath thanks everyone who had been involved. Some unsold items have been shared with other charities.

Christmas Day Lunch - If you know of any people who will be on their own on Christmas Day this year, and who don’t want to be, please talk to Nicky Smallwood about an invitation to the Christmas Day lunch at All Hallows. A group from the congregation are putting on a full roast turkey lunch, with all the trimmings, plus crackers, entertainment, presents, and the Queen’s Speech. Donations of food, other items or cash towards the lunch from the congregation are welcome.

Baptism Team - Would you like to join our team of volunteers who assist with Sunday afternoon Baptism services? The services usually start at 12noon and we have two volunteers helping with each service. The role involves preparing everything for the priest, welcoming the family as they arrive, being around to help as necessary and tidying away at the end. If you’re interested in joining the team, please get in touch with Nicky - parishadmin@ahwhitchurch.org.uk

Andover Food Bank send their thanks for the continued support. The collection box is in the porch along with paper bags with an idea of what to donate. The Foodbank is running low of -Rice, Long Life Milk, Tinned potatoes/packet mashed potatoes, Biscuits, Sugar, Small saucepans, Towels.

Marriage Course - a course will be offered in the New Year. Please see the flyer for details.

Quiet Day - We will be holding a Quiet Day at Old Alresford Place on Saturday 3rd Feb. A booking form is here together with further details. We hope this will offer a time for spiritual refreshment in the midst of this busy year.

YOUNG CHURCH BUILDERS

What you’d probably know as Sunday School we call Young Church Builders. We meet most* Sunday mornings from 10am (i.e. before the service starts) in the Church Rooms attached to All Hallows.

At YCB we take children from 3 to 11 years and aim to provide music, singing, Bible stories and fun activities appropriate to their age.

If you would like to join us on a Sunday morning, please pop in and see what we get up to. We are always happy to have new children in YCB.

* Our Praise Communion services, which happen roughly once a month, are designed for the whole family and so there is no YCB on these days. Please help yourself to an activity bag (located in the carpeted area near the font) which should keep younger children occupied should their attention wander!

BABIES AND TODDLERS

Children are very welcome at our Service, whether they stay with you in the pew, stretch their legs in the carpeted area by the font or join YCB in the Church Rooms, where they may play with the toys (under the supervision of their carers) and are welcome to join in with YCB as and when they feel like it.

Toddlers are also welcome to play quietly (again under supervision) in the carpeted font area during the Service, but please note that their voices will carry during the quieter parts of the Service.

The activity bags (located in the carpeted area) should keep your children occupied if they aren’t in YCB.
